Hello to all!
Just wanted to let you know that there is a book called "THIS PROMISED
EARTH" written by LEE RAINTREE. It was published by Bantam Book
September 1985. The arthur states "This tale of my ancestors is
"faction," part fact & part fiction. The people & most major events of
the historical section are real, although dramatic license has been
taken in certain scenes. Anyone familiar with the Sellers clan & Grove
Hill, Alabama, will know which. Some may also know why the last will &
testament of William Sellers was recently stolen from the Clarke County
courthouse."
I'm not sure if the book is still in publication, maybe a library would
have a copy.

As I've mentioned , the name Sellers was something that I kept
running across years ago, but didn't copy with Sellers in mind, as we
didn't know that there were Sellers in the family yet, so you'll have to
excuse what may be a relationship that you already know, or a name that you
already have a family for, but I am noticing that in 1860 Clarke, in my
notes from 20 plus years ago, that family #10 is William Sellers, 57 years
old, who is said to be born in South Carolina. ( I had copied only the
heads of households as a means of preliminary searching, so don't have the
family members names.Also at family # 24 is Alexander Sellers, 21 born in
Clarke County. # 39 is Alexander Sellers, 64 of South Carolina, and family
. At #108 was John Sellers, 31 born in Clarke with family. There may be
more, but I only noted the names of the heads of households up through
family # 120, as that surrounded my own family fairly well. (Which , of
course, didn't mean that there weren't family members of my own who were
scattered throughout the county. I was new to searching , then.) These
notes seem to establish the Sellers as having been in Clarke from at least
that period around 1829, which you may be aware of.

I just walked in the door. We took a ride out to Jean , which is
fairly near the state line of Nev/Calif. Haven't had time to look through
anything yet, but in looking at the census info that is on Clarke, I'm
wondering if the "Harward H. Sellers", born in 1873, son of Hardy isn't the
same person as the Howard born 1873 that 's listed in the 1900 census
below that .
       My reason for thinking that is that I speculate that it is the 1910
census , instead, based upon the
ages given for Howard, Jessie/e (1853); Coda/ie 5 April 1897, died 22 Aug
1912;
       I made a BIG mistake in my notes in saying that Maebell was a
Sellers, when she was in fact, Maebell Sellers White, the wife of Earnest
White, whom I went so far as to call a Sellers in my notes.
So sorry for that. No excuse!!
        Also , I note that the Robinson name appears to have been connected
per both your message above, and the cemetery arrangements of graves, as
W.W. Robinson , 22 Nov 1860-14 Dec 1918 was right next to these graves, and
Sarah Robinson was listed with a four old Sellers boy.
         Will be looking at the site you sent earlier in just a few
