Atkinson Sellers was born in Center Twp. Green County
Pa. abt. July 1, 1813. He was the son of George and Mary ( Sherman
) Sellers. = ( See 1837 Will of George Sellers. ) Atkinson married
Elizabeth Morris of
Jolletown Gilmore Twp. Green County Pa. Year of marriage abt.1842.
Elizabeth Morris was born Jan, 15,
1819. The daughter of Samuel and Sarah Morris. Abt the
year 1845/46 Elizabeth's older brother Juston
Morris and family moved to Keokuk Iowa, Lee County and by 1850 were living
in Kahoka Twp. Clark County
Mo. It is belived that Atkinson and Elizabeth Sellers made the move
with Justin Morris and family, or followed soon after. For both familys are
listed in the 1850 Census of Clark County Mo. This 1850 Census
has listed for Atkinson Sellers, Farmer Wife Elizabeth And
one Son age 5/12 born in Mo. Named Samuel. The 1860 Census same county
has this family listed with two sons Samuel age 10, and
Perry M. or Barry M. age 8. I found nothing of this family in the 1870
Census of Clark County. (In the March 3, 1933 Clark County Courier News
Paper, there is a article written about John P. Morris who being one of
the last living men who served in the Civil War " Roll of Company G. of
the 21st Missouri." John P. Morris was the son of Justin Morris and
the nephew of Atkinson Sellers. He, John P., list many of the men
who served in said Company, among them is listed Atkinson Sellers.)
In the Peaksville Cemetery of Clark County I found one Sellers Grave Marker
with the following information. A.A. Sellers died Feb, 8, 1862, age
48/7/21. Wife Elizabeth born Jan, 15, 1819. Died May 14, 1888.- John

& Eliz. Died July 8, 1861 age ( hard to read ) 12/9/10. - Samuel M.
s/o A.A. & Eliz. Born 1850 Died 1932.
Samuel Sellers married a Lenora J. Leach
date of Marriage Sept. 13. 1892. She was born in Illinois date Oct, 24,
1853. And the daughter of James W. and Elizabeth ( Anderson ) Leach . One
Son is listed born of this union, James M. Sellers, Born in Clark
County Mo. 1892/93. He died in said County Nov, 19, 1968.

Hello Marie, I just received the Military and full Pension records of
Atkinson Sellers. Which confirmed the information that I had posted on
your Sellers of Green County Pa. web site? These papers also gives
dates of marriage as well as births which I never had. Atkinson Sellers
was
born in Center Twp. Green County Pa. June 17, 1819, ( Son of George
and Mary [Sherman) Sellers. I had his birth listed as abt. 1814. Atkinson
died in Clark County, MO. Feb, 8, 1862. and on his cemetery marker
I misread for his age at death as 48 - 8 -21, but which most had read 43
- 8 -
21 days. On the 11, day of Oct. 1842 Atkinson married Elizabeth Morris
of Green County Pa. at the home of her parents Samuel and Sarah
Morris, this marriage was performed by James Woods a Minister of the
Gospel. The year of this marriage matches with the tax's records
of
Green County, where Atkinson first shows up on said records as single
for the years of 1840 and 41, but they list him as married for the year
of
1842. That this Atkinson Sellers with wife Elizabeth sometime between
the date of 1842 and 1850 moved to Clark County Missouri. According
to a letter written on the date of July 1, 1934, by James M. Sellers
the Grandson of Atkinson Sellers, who was seeking the Service Records of
his
Grandfather. He (James) writes that Atkinson Sellers or he might be
listed as Sellars, also served in the Mexican War, which took place between
1846 - 48. But James isn't sure just where Atkinson enlisted from,
either from Clark Co. Mo. or Green County Pa. It seems that on the date
of
June 15, 1861, Atkinson was sworn into the 1st. NE Missouri Regiment
Home Guards. And on the 2nd day of Feb, 1862 Atkinson was Mustered
into Company "G." 21 St. Missouri Volunteer Infantry as a Musician.
( This Missouri Regiment fought for the North. ) He with the other
musicians from the date of the 3rd through the 6th of Feb, were out
in the harsh weather practicing when Atkinson fell sick. They took him
to
the hospital in Canton Missouri, where Atkinson died two days later,
on the 8th of Feb. 1862 of what they determined as "Typhoid
Pneumonia" Widow Elizabeth wrote on her Pension Application date July
1865. " That the names and dates of birth of her children under
sixteen years of age at the time of Atkinson death, and their residence
were. Samuel M. Sellers born March 11, 1850, and Perry Milton Sellers
born Oct, 9, 1851 both residence as Peakesville, Missouri. Marie,
I have copied and pasted the information that I have updated on this family
listed on your Sellers of Green County web site for others to read.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
