My father, JORDAN ,  oldest and only one raised to be grown was born Feb 16, 1763 and died Sept 9, 1838 at age 75, in this Marion Co. 

 

Married second = don’t remember

Three sons and one daughter.=

 

WRIGHT, oldest son by second marriage, married Mis Duncan of Horry or Columbus Co. and lived on Iron Springs Swamp near what is now called Green Sea in Horry.

Had one son

BENJAMIN D.

6 or 7 daughters.

 

LUKE, second son by second marriage , married don’t know who and and had one son JACOB  AND DIED. 
JACOB grew up and married and also? went West.

 

LEVIN, the youngest son , grew up and became a Methodist preacher, joined the Conference in 1806/7 and sent to EDISTO CIRCUIT/now Orangeburg and the Next Year to Cypress Circuit where he died in AUG of that year.

 

 

RHODA married Jonathan Rothwell on Cape Fear River, Bladen Co, NC (or did Mary marry Rothwell? msh)

My father, the only child raised of the first marriage of my grandfather , joined the Continental Army of the Revolution at the age of 18. Under the command of General Nathaniel Greene and was in the battle at Eutaw Springs, SC., Sept 8th, 1781 and served to the end of the war.

At the age of 26 in 1789 he married Miss Elizabeth Hunchy, a Dutch lady and by her he had one child,

a daughter MARY 

The wife was an invalid, bedridden from the birth of Mary for 24/25 years when she died.

MARY married JAMES W. EDWARDS and in 1819 moved to Montgomery Co., AL.

Raised 7 or 8 children, amassed large property and both died and buried 4 miles below Mont , AL.

IN 1854, all children were dead, but, two.

DAUGHTER Amanda , wife of Methodist preacher, name forgotten.

 

IN 1817, my father married my mother, MARY OSBORNE, born 1797 and died Feb 12, 1868.  (dau of JOSEPH OSBORNE who married CIVIL FOLEY in Sampson Co, NC. )  My father  was 54 and she 20.

They raised to be grown three sons and two daughters.

 

W. W. SELLERS, oldest child, born March 27, 1818. and the only survivor (in 1901?msh) I married Miss Martha  BETHEA, DAU OF PHILIP BETHEA. We had six children, three sons and three daughters.

JOHN C. SELLERS, W. W. SELLERS, JR, PHILIP B. SELLERS, ANNA JANE, RACHEL AND MARY all married .

 

James O. SELLERS went to AL and married Miss Willis and raised one son

JAMES JORDAN And Four Daughters.

James O. was killed in Hoods Army Oct 28, 1864.

3rd Regiment, Mississippi Infantry

3rd Infantry Regiment, organized in the spring of 1861 at Enterprise, Mississippi, contained men from Hancock, Newton, Hines, Yazoo, Harrison, Copiah, Jackson, and Sunflower counties. After serving in Biloxi, the unit was assigned to General L. Hebert's and Featherston's Brigade, Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana, and was active in various conflicts around Vicksburg. It continued to serve under General Featherston in the Atlanta Campaign and in Tennessee and North Carolina. This regiment totalled 572 men in February, 1863, reported 88 casualties at Peach Tree Creek, lost many at Franklin, and had only 71 present for duty in December, 1864. It surrendered with the Army of Tennessee. The field officers were Colonels John B. Deason and Thomas A. Mellon; Lieutenant Colonels Samuel M. Dyer, Robert Eager, James B. McRae, and E.A. Peyton; and Major William H. Morgan.

BRYANT J. SELLERS went into army in a Marlborough company and died Aug 13, 1863.  Two sons.

     JAMES F.  married Miss Chloe Rogers, dau of Johnson Rogers in Mullins section (Marion Co., SC ? msh) in died in 1889. Four sons and one daughter, now in that community.

      THOMAS W. married Dora CAMPBELL, dau of Theophilus Campbell of Mullins section. She died 4-5 yrs ago ( 1886/7?msh) Two daughters . He has not remarried. ( by 1900? Msh)

    

 

SUSAN SELLERS married JAMES J. ROGERS, brother of Johnson Rogers. He died last Oct, childless and she died MAY 17, 1901

 

CIVIL SELLERS married RUFFIN PRICE of NC. Two boys . MILTON F. and JOSEPH M. PRICE, now of Mullins and have families.
