             Re: Matthew Sellars

       Hello Heather,

I think you may have corresponded with my folks James and Maxine Heath in
TX.
I too am a descendant of Matthew Sellars through his daughter Mary (Polly)
Sellars who married Joseph S. Hughes.

Their daughter Mariah Berry Hughes m. Harrison Heath and moved to Weakley
C.,
TN. Don't know where that Arkansas came from for Mariah and Harrison. They
are
buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Gleason, Weakley C. TN.

I am from their youngest, James Lycurgus Heath (they had 23(4) children
only
one mom!) and his first wife Martha Alverda (Verda) Gibson. She died young.
James was married twice more for a total of 17 children. He eventually
moved
to Heavener, OK. My grandfather was their son Max Levy Heath, who was born
in
1903, McKenzie, TN.

Matthew Sellars' will is in Livingston County County, KY Will Books A-B
1799-1873 p.27. BTW Matthew is listed in the DAR Patriot Index. Can get
info
on that if needed.

Have following on Ann Corbitt: b. ca 1750 New Hanover, NC d. 1828 Ouachita
Parish, LA  buried Lake Providence, LA on son's plantation (which son?).

Cindy

My understanding is that these are indeed Matthew Bacon Sellers and his
mother Ann nee Corbett. I think my parents visited her grave last year:
died
1828 buried Oakland Plantation near Lake Providence, Ouachita Parish, LA.
I
believe her son had established himself there and she came out later. My
parents are out of the country until late Sept. otherwise I could get
directions for you to the gravesite for your coming trip.

Most of the data I have on Mathew (Sr.) Sellers, wife Ann and their
descendants come from the work of Mary E. Mottley Beadles, a descendant
and
genealogist who has published on various pioneer families. Ann appears
living
alone in the 1810 Livingston C. KY census but not in later census. I
thought
Marie said she had the text of Mathew's (Sr.) will in Livingston C. KY. If
not, please let me know.

I am related to Matthew Sellars m. Ann Corbe(i)tt through daughter Mary
(Polly) Sellars. If interested I have text of his will from the Livingston
C.
KY will books. He leaves land "to beloved wife Ann." The following
children
are mentioned as well:
John SELLARS, Salomy TRAVIS, Mary SELLARS, "youngest son" Matthew SELLARS,
Rhoda TAYLOR, Ann GALLOWAY, Samuel SELLARS. Will was presented in court
Jan
1808.

1Matthew b. ca 1743 Edgecombe C. NC d. ca1807 Livingston c. KY

2Mary (Polly) Sellars b. 1792 Brunswick C. NC d. 1847 Crittenden C. KY
m. Joseph Hughes 1809

3Mariah Berry Hughes b. 1825 m. Harrison Heath (they left Crittenden C.
for
Weakley C, TN (related to Sellars there?)

Some of the names assoc with Matthew's will were well-established families
in
what became Crittenden C. KY. Many associated later with founding of the
Mt.
Zion Methodist Church there in 1838. The graves of J. Hughes (nearby) and
the
father of Harrison Heath are nearby/in the church cemetary. Don't know
where
Polly Sellars or her father were buried. Ann ended up in LA.

I have nothing on Matthew's parentage so am interested in this discussion
of
origins and if there are multiple Matthews here. Thank you.

Cindy

Crittenden Co,KY was made in 1842 from Livingston Co, Ky,msh
