Hi, does anyone have any inf. on the Sellers Family of Sellersville Pa? I
just found out my great grandmother Virginia Ross Sellers and her brother
Howard were from Sellersville. ironically I don't live too far from
Sellersville, but don't know much of the history!
Thanks
---Dolly

DOLLY, If you could locate your genealogy society, phone the library -
see if
>they have a 1900 Bucks Co, PA census or can order you in one. Go read it
and >hope they have an index! They should be on the census with their parents.
>They may have their marriages, etc also. Did they have obituaries written
on >them? Keep us posted. marie, iowa

Thanks for the inf. the only problem i have is that i have 3 small kids and
no time to go do research. i'll see what i can find though!

Hi all, Just got inf. from Fernwood cemetery in Lansdown, pa Seems my 2nd
great grandparents were Alfred T Sellers (d. 1901) and Mary Ross Sellers
(d 1941). While Landsdowne is just outside of Philly they may have a
connection to Sellersville Pa. Do these names rings any bells with anyone?

Hi, I am looking for info on Frederick Sellers (mid 1800's) Upper Darby Pa,
I believe he may have been from Sellersville. He had a son Alfred T Sellers
(my 22nd great grandfather) who married Mary Ross. Am wondering if there
may be a relation to Maj. Alfred J Sellers who was awarded Medal of Honor
for Gettysburg.

WE NEED AGES of These Kids and Where Born!
AN Obit on a member of the family may tell where relation is living.
A COPY of Alfred SELLERS civil war file would tell where born = BUCKS CO, PA , But, It would also Show Where he lived Each time he applied for Pension. Probably Need.

DO we Know WHERE married?
Where First Child Born?
DO we Know the Names and Ages of brothers/sistes?
These Counties and States are Very Close and sometimes Need to check/search ALL.
TRACING/SEARCHING from Your Oldest Proven Family - find on cenus or find in county And

DOLLY - Thanks for Names and Dates - NOW if we had PLACES we should be able to go to that county/state/census/documents and FIND them?
I do believe the LAND Changes and CLOSE areas may have something to do with tracing these families-
BUT, I'm sure/think  if we KNEW a PLACE on some of these kids would help
HAVE you Tried an Index Search, etc to FIND them in a certain place =
Birth/Death/Marriages, etc?
ANY OBITS?
Several are available -

YOU NEED a LOCATION of this Family = a County/Town/State=

WHERE is MARGARET SELLERS  1822/1877 buried OR died =
WHERE are  ANY of these kids Born=
WHERE are ANY of these kids married=
WHERE are ANY of these kids died/buried=

YOU DID give me a TOWN/CEMETERY NAME on ?
BUT, without town,county/ CAN'T TELL WHICH ONE - several possibilities

APPRECIATE your HELP - WISH we had a SELLERS that connects AND we may have =
They May Not the kids names, ages/places, etc,
THANKS, marie, iowa

I'm not sure where Margaret or Frederick are buried. I have been able to
trace Frederick to Upper Darby, Pa Just outside Philly. Alfred T Sellers,
Mary Ross Sellers, Virginia Ross Sellers (Phillips), and Oliver Phillips
are
buried in Lansdowne Pa (again just out side Philly). I believe there is a
connection to Sellersville Bucks County but I haven't been able to find it!
I know Maj. Alfred J Seller, Medal of honor recipient for the battle of
Gettysburg, Was born in Sellersville, Bucks County, Pa. Maj. Sellers was,
as we know it, a bachelor, No children. After the war he settled in Philly and
was a book keeper. I forget the name of the Cemetery where he is buried,
But its right across the street from Historic Laurel Hill Cemetery in
Philadelphia.
So far all of my Sellers are from the border of Philadelphia County and
Chester County, Pa.
I know my great grand mother Virginia (Nana) Sellers and her second husband
used to work for the Widow Diston, sole heir to the Diston Saw Company. The
lived in the carriage house at the diston Mansion in Philly. After the
death of the Widow Diston, they ran a boarding house on Baltimore Pike
(Philly-Chester boarder)
This is about all I know! Thanks again!

I'm not really sure, The Alfred I sent the info about I think is a (2nd or
3rd)great Uncle, as far as I know he never had any children, But My 2nd
great grandfather was also named Alfred (Middle initial T) So far all of my
Sellers family has been in Upper Darby, But I know somehow there is a
connection to Sellersville Bucks Co. Up until a month ago I lived my whole
life in Bucks Co. The only link I have, is that in the "History of
Sellersville" it says the town was founded by Samuel Sellers, but that
before he came to Bucks, he settled in Darby. I'm still working on this
one!
----Dolly

DOLLY - You can Order a copy of this CW file and info on Anyone who claimed a Pension on Same=wife, family =
They Had to Prove Connections/Marriages/Kids, etc
DO YOU have?
marie, iowa

I believe this Alfred was a bachelor, No wife no kids, I know he was born
in Bucks Co. though, And I know my Sellers are somehow connected with
Sellersville Pa, and with my 2nd great grandfather being named Alfred as
well...I'm just having trouble getting the connection. Just thought I would
throw the info out there and see what  came of it.
After the was Alfred J Sellers  stayed in Philadelphia and worked as a
bookkeeper. My Alfred, though a generation or so later, also stayed in the
Philly area.
If I get any new info, I'll be sure to post it!

Hi,
I almost deleted this without checking data. I went to your web page and
noted a Howard Sellers,,,and a William Sellers, and
that Alfred was born in Bucks Cnty.. My GGG grandfather P Henry was born
there,,son of Leonard dying in 1805. P Henry moved
to Franklin before 1800 and his son Leonard moved to Lima OH by 1837. A few
generations later I arrived ,,,1936.
Are we related ?

DOLLY, thanks for keeping us up to date.

WHEN you find out his age , and  WHERE   born you should be able to find him on a census =
he wasn't on 1850 Upper Darby, Delaware Co, PA?
BUT, his parents may have moved from UPPER DARBY, DELAWARE CO, PA to WHERE?
WHERE he married?
WHERE his kids born?

OTHERS can NOT find HIM or Child you connect to,
UNLESS you SHOW where in 1850 or 1860 , etc
OR ABOVE INFO

THANKS for sharing ,
marie, iowa

In 1850 he was in Chester County Ulchwan Twp, married to
Margaret, and having 3 children.
I have some dates & such, I'll get back with later.

DOLLY, thanks.
You had asked about CW=
FREDERICK SELLERS, enlisted Nov 2, 1862 #K177 PA INf, MUSTERED OUT aug 5, 1863
WIFE, MARGARETTA B. SELLERS  file pension papers in 1903
There was a FREDERICK SELLERS, CO I 104 that died Aug 1862, PHIL, PA
AND a FREDERICK A. SELLERS born March 24, 1833 in Co D 138 PA INF.
marie, iowa
Alright, now you got me wondering....I originally thought
that the Frederick Sellers of 177Pa, was mine, but his wife Margaret died
before 1903, so she couldn't have applied for his pension (That's the record I
saw on Ancestry.com & thought he was mine). I thought he was the
same Frederick that is buried in Phila National Cem, but he's not....That
Frederick was in the 104th Pa...The cemtery co didn't have any other info.
Frederick A Sellers can't be him because, my Frederick was born in 1822.
I got the info from Phila National Cem today and just filed
it away thinking he wasn't mine, Now I'm gonna have to investigate further,
he may just be the guy I'm looking for!!!
Thanks
~Dolly

DOLLY, just a thought.
WHO is alive and on 1910 census - Do we have a MARGARETTA? SELLERS.
But, Could have died before then also.
RELATION living with is very important=

FREDERICK never remarried?
I have a couple of  relation that married a few years and also one who married a few months before he died!
That collected CW pension -

DID we check the 1890 census for CW members?
WERE all these regiments? from PHIL CO or COUNTY he enlisted?

I WOULD order BOTH CW records to check for relation, etc.

THANKS for sharing. marie, iowa

his birthrate is a typo (possible). Well I'm going to send for his pension

Hi all! Just received 2 obits in the mail today, on was for my great grand uncle Howard Sellers, turns out he is buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery in West Philadelphia (doubt I will get much info there, but I will try!) But the BIG news is about my Frederick Sr, d. march 6 1897, buried in Northwood Cemetery in Downingtown Pa (putting him much closer to those Reading, Pa Sellers') I am hoping to get more info from the cemetery.....I'll post what I find out!

I might mention, while there is as of yet no connection...Upper Darby was

that he may be in one of the military plots in Mount Moriah that are
maintained by Beverly Cemetry co in New Jersey!)

I will see about getting a copy of the Upper Darby Sellers history to
