I am trying to identify the Sellers husband of Chloe (Braswell)
Sellers, dau. of Jacob Braswell. In his 1815 will, probated in 1823
in
Nash
Co., NC, Jacob Braswell named 11 of his 12 children. One of those
children "Chloe Sellers" received a negro woman named Dinah and $75
cash.
Of Chloe's sisters (who married into the Atkinson,
Hedgepeth, Evans,
Jones, Thompson, and Pitman families), many appear
to have moved from
Nash
Co. to Robeson
Co., NC. However, of the Sellers families in Robeson Co.,
none to date seems to have a female named Chloe b. ca. 1750s. There
has
been some speculation among Braswell researchers that she may
have been
part of the group that went to DeKalb Co., TN. Has anyone
encountered a
Chloe (Braswell) Sellers, b. ca. 1750s, in his/her
research?.
DONNA, In Nash Co, NC we have JOHN SELLERS =
1780 John SELLERS buys 440 acres on Sappony CREEK by Marcom COOPER,
Joshua
PIERCE, Wm BUNTING
1780 WM SELLERS buys 370 acres
on Sappony Creek, Grt Branch, BRANTLY,
Joseph SELLERS, Blk Oak,
Maple
1782 John SELLERS buys 640 acres on waters of Pigbasket by
Arthur
BRASSWELL, Mathew DRAKE, Jesse POWELL, Jacob BRASSWELLE
1786 JOHN SELLERS sells same land, laying beside these same families
7-6-1779 JACOB BRASSWELL of Nash Co = sons, Jacob and William
DEKALB CO, TN = lots of same name patterns/Not Proven/Need more
wills,
land, etc!
IF Chloe BRASSWELL was born ca 1750? she
should be on an 1810 census - as
over 45 - JOHN SELLERS is only one
with wife this age in Nash Co.
(HOW about JAMES SELLERS wife over 45? ? msh)
Don't believe we have a will for John SELLERS
My land deeds only go to 1800/1804
DO you know where your JACOB BRASSWELL is in 1770?
Know When/Where any of his kids married?
How did we determine Chloe/s age?
How did we know if Jacob Sr or Jacob Jr Brasswell?
We have several SELLERS in EDGECOMBE CO till 1758 and big gap to 1780 and
same names of your BRASSWELLS
1739 and 1742 Edgecombe Co, NC we have land patents on SS Tar river by
Thomas SELLERS and NS Tar River by Wm BRASWELL
BUT, maybe need all other counties info -
PLEASE, Send what you have collected. marie, iowa

JACOB BRASSWELL'S WILL - 1815 NASH CO, NC
From:
Donna Sarchet <mailto:sarchet@texaonline.net>
I am trying to identify the children named in Jacob
Braswell's 1815 will
(Nash Co.).
Specifically he names daughters Cloah Sellers, Charity Hedgpeth, Selah
Evans, Mary Jones (who had ch. Nancy, Patsey, Harty/Harly Jones),
Patience Thompson, Patsey Atkinson (who had ch. Susanna, Nany, Rhoda,
and John Atkinson), Lucretia Pitman. Jacob Braswell's sons were
William, Jesse, Brittain, Nathan, and Jacob Braswell.
To date, here's what is known about some of the daughters:
1)
Charity (Braswell) Hedgepeth--married Benjamin Hedgpeth and moved to
Robeson Co., NC (where she died in early 1806).
2) Lucretia
(Braswell) Pitman--married Robert Pitman and moved to
Robeson Co., NC
and later to Marion Co., MS.
3) Patience (Brasewell)
Thompson--married Lemuel Thompson and moved to
Robeson Co., NC and
then to Marion Co., MS.
Here is the will of Jacob Braswell. If anyone can shed light on
identifying any of these children, I would be interested in
exchanging
information.
