According to the information that I have received on William Calvin
Sellers he was born in North Carolina between 1794 and 1800.
The family
then migrated to South Carolina and eventually to Georgia.
It was in
Jefferson County Georgia that William Calvin and his brother Alfred
married Lavinia and Elizabeth Anderson (sisters) in a double ceremony
(12-18-1818). In the late 1820s the brothers and their wives
moved to
Lowndes County Alabama.
I also thought the whole thing of William Calvin marrying his son's
sister-in-law strange but if you do enough of this you see the darndest
family relationships. I have a copy of an article written for the
Pintlala (Alabama) Historical Society Newsletter concerning this
family. This was given to be by Mamie Sellers, the author.
She and her
husband Ronnie have done quite a bit of research into this group.
With
Mamie's permission I will be more than glad to send it along to
anyone
that is interested.

Hi All,
While reading the messages from the mail list today I hit delete instead
of print. While retrieving from the trash bin something happened
and it
went heaven knows where. I know that someone was asking the connection
of Ronnie and Mamie Sellers.
Here is the info that I have
Ronnie is the son of Thomas Jefferson Sellers, son of William Calvin
and
second wife Mariah Trotter.
Will be leaving tomorrow to attend Bedsole Reunion and will contact
Mamie upon returning for additional information.
