"1840's Davis-West House opens to public on Saturday mornings"
This house was originally built by John Davis. House is listed on National
Register of Historic Places.
Mr Slade West bequeathed the house to the Chipola Historical Trust,
Inc
upon his
demise in 1996 to be used as a museum of regional history.
The house contains the furnishings that belonged to Slade's parents,
Confederate
surgeon Dr. Theophilus West and Louise Slade West, including a room
full of
furnishings from St. Elmo plantation near Columbus, Ga, where
Mrs West
spent her
childhood.
Also, I failed to add that the house is located in Marianna, Jackson
County, Florida.
