James “Jim” P. Donoho, 62, Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 1:37 A.M.
on Friday, January 4, 2013 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount
Vernon, Illinois. He was born Saturday, November 25, 1950 in Mount Vernon,
Illinois to parents Kenneth P. and Wilma “Billie” Jane (Pasley) Donoho.

Jim is survived by two sons: Jared Sellers and Eric Sellers, two
grandchildren: Ethan and Evie Sellers of Mount Carmel, Illinois, two
sisters: Brenda Denham and husband Don of El Paso, Texas and Tamora ‘Tammy’
Donoho of Mount Vernon, Illinois, two brothers: David Donoho of Clarkville,
Tennessee and Terry Donoho of Paducah, Kentucky, two aunts: Norma L. Riley
of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Clara Donoho of Mount Vernon, Illinois, uncle:
John Donoho, Jr. and wife Lora of Ohio, five nephews, one niece, two great
nephews, and one great niece.

His parents, grandparents: Pearl and Stewart Bean and John and Clara Donoho,
two uncles: Orville Donoho and Charles ‘Chuck’ Riley, one cousin: Roger
Riley, and one great niece: Taylor Travis preceded him in death.

 

Jim was a Vietnam Veteran with the first Squadron tenth Calvary United
States Buffalo soldiers. He was instrumental in the establishment of
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9233 where he served as Quartermaster
Adjutant and Commander. He continued to be active in the post until his
death. Jim also helped with the Veterans Memorial at the city park. He
worked the Alaskan Pipeline and served as Deputy with the Jefferson County
Sheriff Department. He also was a supervisor for defenders at General Tire
and managed restaurants including Bob Evans. He enjoyed bow and arrow
hunting, fishing, going to auctions, and collecting model cars and trucks.
He loved his family and took great pride in family traditions and gathering.
He was a strong Christian man and had a place in his heart for anyone in
need; doing what he could to help them. He will be greatly missed by his
family and those who knew and loved him.

 

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at
Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Melvin "Buck"
Larson officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson
County, Illinois. Members of the American Legion Post #141 will conduct Full
Military Honors at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Wolf Prairie Cemetery, VFW
Post #9233, or American Legion Post #141 and will be accepted at the funeral
home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mount Vernon, Illinois
