was  Mona Genevieve McCoy.  Her father, Charles Leonard McCoy was the son
of Henry Daniel McCoy, whose father was John McCoy, son of the above

FIRST GENERATION

1. John FINLEY was born in 1720. He died in 1764. Lived in Little Kenney
township, Cumberland County, PA at his death.

He was married to Alice MITCHELL. John FINLEY and Alice MITCHELL had the
following children:

6. Elizabeth FINLEY1 was born on 16 Aug 1753. She died on 7 Aug 1839 in
Preble Co., OH.
 

She was married to John SELLERS (son of Nathaniel David SELLERS and Mother
) on 16 Apr 1777. John SELLERS was born on 16 Sep 1743 in Cumberland Co.,
PA. This date comes from Virginia Hanks by way of Julianne Loomis who is a
descendant of John and Elizabeth Finley Sellers. He died in 1789 in
Harrison Co., KY. The death year must be wrong as his last child was born
in 1795. More research needed here. Elizabeth FINLEY and John SELLERS had
the following children:

8. Sarah Elizabeth FINLEY was born about 1760 in Chester County, PA, USA.
She died on 16 Sep 1834 in Preble County, Ohio, USA. It is possible that
Sarah had a brother John and a sister, Elizabeth. Elizabeth married John
Sellers, born about 1750 in Cumberland Co, PA and died July 1798 in
Harrison Co., KY.

Linda Sellers Foster believes that Sarah & Elizabeth's parents were John
and Alice (Mitchell) Finley. John was born 1691 and died 1769. They were
married 2/18/1711. That would make John about 71 when Elizabeth was
born... uncommon, even in those days.

Aunt Cleta wrote a few notes about different family members. She states
that Sarah Finley was a cousin of George Washington.

She was married to Nathan SELLERS (son of Nathaniel David SELLERS and
Mother ) about 1775. Nathan SELLERS2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 was born about
1753 in Chester County, PA, USA. He died on 28 Jul 1824 in Preble County,
Ohio, USA. He was buried in Mound Cemetery, Preble County, Ohio, USA. He
was of Irish decent. Nathan fought in the Revolutionary War as a private
in Capt. William Kirk's Company. He and Jonathan Pasdrall, John Pearson
and Jacob Serrill were kicked out of the Friends Church February 29, 1776,
because they enlisted. That practice was inconsistent with their peacable
principles.

According to documents, he distinguised himself in the battles of
Brandywine and Germantown. It appears the military organization was
changed as he was in the Upper Darby Company of Militia under Commander
Col. Caleb Davis, Capt. James Williamson and Lt. William Kirk.

They apparently lived in Westmoreland Co., PA for awhile as their first
child, Mary, was born there in May 1776. Nathan moved with his family to
Bourbon Co., KY prior to 1782. While there he became a Police Magistrate
and finally, Sheriff. He was strongly against slavery and finally resigned
the position because of the inhumanity of the laws governing slaves.
Several of his ancestors served Daniel Boone in the war with the Indians
and were victims to the tomahawk and scalping knife. All of their children
with the exception of Mary (and possibly Nellie whose birthplace is
unknown) were born in Bourbon Co., KY.

The family moved to Ohio around 1810 as Nathan was suretor for Peggy's
marriage bond in Bourbon County in September 1809 and it is doubtful that
they would have moved during the winter of 1809. Nathan purchased the SW
1/4 of Section 10 in Washington Township on 9/21/1810 (apparently purchased
in Cincinnati, OH.) He then purchased the adjoining 1/4 section (SE 1/4 of
Section 9) on 12/30/1811. Both of these purchases were from the U.S. Govt.
These transactions were officially recorded on 11 Dec 1821 in Eaton, OH.
This land is about 2 1/2 miles south of Eaton, OH.
 

In an article about Elder James C. Neal, he said his family emigrated to
Preble County in the fall of 1811 with his mother's parents (Nathan and
Sarah Sellers).
Joseph, William and Nathan Sellers were among the early pioneers who
settled in Preble Co. A William Sellers did own land in the same township
(Section 14.)

The McCoy and Neal families accompanied him on the migration. The journey
was made by wagon and was long and tedious. During the first two months
after they arrived, they lived in an open faced pole shanty. Nathan
finally built an Indian proof block house with bullet proof walls pierced
by port holes at convenient distances apart. According to an article in
the 13 June 1956 edition of the Eaton Register Herald, the first Christian
Church in Preble Co. was organized in his home in 1807. The date is wrong
as the land was not purchased until 1810 so it was more likely 1811 when
this event took place.

Nathan passed away on 28 July 1824. If he was born in 1753 he would have
been about 71. He left his real property to his only son, Nathaniel F.
For some reason the DAR lists his death as 1826, however his will was
probated in August 1824. His wife Sarah passed away on 16 September 1834.
 

According to the Sellers Letters, Volume 5, Nathan's father was Nathaniel,
brother of Samuel Sellers, who is more documented. Nathaniel possibly had
two wives. His children were Nathan, Joseph, William David, James and
John. Joseph married Rachel Summer and Jane Ward. William married Sarah
Crawford. James married Mary Crawford (Sarah's sister) and John married
Elizabeth Finley (Sarah's sister.) Sarah Elizabeth FINLEY and Nathan
SELLERS had the following children:

9. Mary SELLERS13 was born on 3 Feb 1779 in PA. She died on 15 Jul 1859.

She was married to Unknown UNKNOWN.

She was married to Joseph WASSON on 4 Nov 1824.

12. Margaret SELLERS was born on 1 Jul 1786 in Bryant Station, KY. She
died on 23 Nov 1879 in Preble Co., OH. Margaret Sellers Kline's obituary
(4 Dec. 1879-Eaton Register), states that the ancestors of Mrs. Kline were
originally from Antrim, Ireland. Her father, John Finley had a brother,
George, who was captured by the Indians when a boy and was adopted by them.

Mrs. Klines's parents were natives of PA; they came to Bryant's Station in
KY where she was born, moved to Cynthiana (Harrison Co. KY) in 1819 and to
Eaton, where she married in 1820.

She was married to Jacob KLINE on 8 Feb 1821.

13. Sarah (Sallie) SELLERS was born.

She was married to Nathaniel MCCLURE on 27 May 1816.

14. John Finley SELLERS was born on 22 Feb 1791 in Harrison Co., KY. He
died on 12 Jan 1875.

He was married to Rebecca SELLERS (daughter of James SELLERS and Mary
(Polly) CRAWFORD) in 1817.14 Rebecca SELLERS was born on 12 Nov 1797 in
Garrard Co., KY. Her husband may have been a cousin who sold land to her
father. She may possibly have married a John Finley.

15. Ruth SELLERS was born in 1793 in Harrison Co., KY.

She was married to Benjamin Worthington HAWKINS (son of Colonel Samuel
HAWKINS and Christena WORTHINGTON ) in 1815 in Preble County, Ohio, USA.
Benjamin Worthington HAWKINS15 was born about 1792 in Bourbon County, KY.
He died in 1867 in Putnam Co., IN. Notes say this may have been John J.
Hawkins brother. The wife is listed as Ruth Sellers.
According to Cleo Ross Wilcox (cleow@crl.com) Benjamin Worthington Hawkins
was the younger brother of John Jones (Jay) Hawkins.

After Benjamin and Ruth were married, they moved to Putnam County, IN. On
10/25/1833 they sold to Henry Thompson of Preble County for $1200.
Recorded 12/6/1834 (N1/2 NW 1/4 S27 T8 R2 also NE corner NE 1/4 S28 T8 R2.)
Ruth SELLERS and Benjamin Worthington HAWKINS had the following children:

16. James SELLERS14 was born on 31 Jan 1795.

He was married to Mary.

19. Mary SELLERS was born on 3 May 1776 in Westmorland Co., PA, USA. She
died on 30 Aug 1854. Apparently they had two other children who died
shortly after being born. All of their children were born in either
Bourbon County or Franklin County, KY.

The family lived in Darke County for awhile but returned to a farm in
Preble County about 3 1/2 miles south of Eaton after Mary married Thomas.

She was married to Benjamin NEAL (son of John NEAL and Agnes ) on 15 Sep
1797. The Internet states the marriage date to Benjamin Neal as 5 Sep 1796
in Bourbon Co., KY Benjamin NEAL was born about 1777 in Kentucky. He died
about 1822 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA. His parental great grandfather
emigrated from England and his maternal ancestors came from Ireland.

20. Elenor (Nellie) SELLERS was born about 1780 in Pennyslvania, USA. She
died about 1814 in Preble County, Ohio, USA. Anne Snodgrass wrote that
Elenor Sellers married Joseph Kennedy on 9 April 1799 in Jessamine Co., KY.
This must have been a first marriage. And entirely possible as she would
have been 19 and was 27 when she married Daniel McCoy.

She was married to Daniel MCCOY (son of Daniel MCCOY Sr. and Martha Mariah
PERRY ) on 13 Apr 1807. Daniel MCCOY was born about Apr 1775 in Frederick
County, MD. He died in 1860 in Preble County, Ohio, USA. Birthdate April
1775 from Family Bible.

Had five or six children by Maria Watt. No names are known.

DUGGINS was born in 1788 in River Dam, VA. He died on 7 Jun 1852 in Eaton,
Preble Co, Ohio, USA. Henry Duggins was a farmer. Henry's will was signed
with an X. He is buried in Mound Hill Cemetery.

His will was dated 3 April 1852, recorded 15 June 1852. Jannet (Jane)
SELLERS and Henry DUGGINS had the following children:

22. Sarah SELLERS was born on 17 Nov 1783 in Bourbon County, KY. She died
on 8 Feb 1861 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA. Sarah passed away of
pneumonia and is buried at the Mount Hill Cemetary. Sarah moved to Ohio as
a widow in 1825. She was in Preble Co., OH in 1830 with her children.

She was married to Samuel SNODGRASS on 21 Oct 1805. Samuel SNODGRASS was
born in 1782. He died in 1825. Samuel was in the war of 1812. Sarah
SELLERS and Samuel SNODGRASS had the following children:

census Sarah had a son born between 1815-1820.

typhoid fever.

23. Margaret (Peggy) SELLERS was born on 2 Jun 1786 in Bourbon County, KY.
She died on 31 May 1862 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA. Buried in the
Mound Hill Cemetary.

She was married to John BELL on 4 Sep 1809. They must have been married in
Bourbon County, KY if our assumption that they moved to Preble County in
1810 and Nathan was the suretor for their marriage bond in Bourbon County
in September 1809. John BELL was born on 10 Oct 1786. He died on 16 Nov
1856 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA. John is buried in the Mound Hill
Cemetary Margaret (Peggy) SELLERS and John BELL had the following children:

24. Nancy SELLERS was born on 4 Jun 1789 in Bourbon County, KY. She died
on 12 Nov 1870 in Jay, Indiana, USA. According to the obituary, she died
of inflammation of the stomach and bowels. According to records from Cleo
Ross Wilcox, the wedding date was 7/10/1810.

They moved to Jay Co., Indiana on March 8, 1829.

The obituary said they had three children alive at the time of her death.

She was married to John Jones (Jay) HAWKINS (son of Colonel Samuel HAWKINS
and Christena WORTHINGTON ) on 7 Sep 1810 or 15 Jul 1810 in Preble Co., OH.
John Jones (Jay) HAWKINS was born on 25 Sep 1789 in Bourbon County, KY.
He died on 15 Mar 1832 in Jay, Indiana, USA. Buried along the banks of the
Salimonie (river). The first settler to die in Jay County. John's
ancestors immigrated in the early 1700's and settled on the Shenandoah
River in the Virginia Colony. Apparently they were wealthy. John's
father, Samuel, ran away from home and fought in the Revolutionary war.
After the war he married Christena Worthington and they moved to Bourbon
County, KY where John was born. Samuel also fought in the Indian Wars and
was the first settler in Eaton, OH.

John was the sheriff in Preble county for two terms and lived on a small
farm owned by Nathan Sellers northeast of Eaton. In 1829, the family,
along with the George Tucker family, moved to Jay County, Indiana and
settled at the forks of the Little Salimonie. Mrs. Tucker did not like the
wilderness life so the Tucker family soon returned to Ohio. John died from
pneumonia he caught while hunting. He was the first settler to die in Jay
County and is buried along the banks of the Salimonie.

In the History of Randolph Co., IN, "He left a poor widow and a large
famly." (from Cleo Ross Wilcox) Nancy SELLERS and John Jones (Jay)
HAWKINS had the following children:

25. Elsa (Alcy Ann) SELLERS was born in 1792/93 in Bourbon County, KY.
Obituaries from Ohio newspapers...possible errors in dates. She died on 11
Jan 1836 or 26 Mar 1869 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA. She died at her
son, Harvey's home of lung fever per the obituary in the newspaper.

She was married to James COX on 2 Jan 1810. James Crawford, J.P. married
them. James COX died about 1859. Elsa (Alcy Ann) SELLERS and James COX
had the following children:

26. Nathaniel F(inley) SELLERS was born on 15 Dec 1797 in Bourbon County,
KY. He died on 12 Mar 1874. Nathaniel and Mary are both buried at the
Mound Hill Cemetary. It is possible that Nathaniel was married first to a
Catherine Moffet in November 1817. Court of Common Pleas has a petition
for alimony on 6/13/1820 for Catherine Moffett from Nathan Sellers, Jr.
She states that Nathan nowowns property in the name of his father, Nathan
Sellers, Sr.

In the Preble Co., Ohio Marriages by Short 1841-1859 a Nathan F. Sellers
married Mary Ann Depny on Oct. 12, 1858. This could be the same Nathan.
His wife, Mary Barnes died in 1852.

In the 1870 census, Nathan was listed with Elizabeth Sellers (35f). No
mention of Mary. She must have died before 1870.

He was married to Mary BARNES on 25 Nov 1822 in Preble Co., OH. Nathaniel
and Mary weer married by Isaac Stephens, J.P. Mary BARNES was born on 29
Aug 1799. She died on 21 Apr 1852 in Preble Co., OH. Mary is buried at
Mound Hill Cemetary. In addition to the known children, they had three
children born between 1825-1830 according to the 1830 Ohio census.
Nathaniel F(inley) SELLERS and Mary BARNES had the following children:

27. Rebecca SELLERS was born about 1802 in Bourbon County, KY. She died
in 1837 in W. Alexandria, Ohio, USA.

Much of this will be repititious, I'm sure.  But it might be interesting to

FIRST GENERATION

1.  Nathaniel David SELLERS died in 1789 in Lincoln County, KY.  This
information was gleaned from The Sellers Letters.  Nathaniel and his five
sons moved to Kentucky late in the 18th century  He was listed on the
Lurgan Township, Cumberland County, PA tax list from 1751-1770.

Samuel Sellers is presumed to be his brother.  Samuel's children are
presumed to be:  John who possibly married Mary Woods about 1770 in
Woodford Co., KY  He was born abt 1750 and died abt 1812.  Also Samuel,
Isaac and Margaret.  Samuel's will was dated 2 April 1776 in Lurgan Township.

A Joseph and Nathan are on the Bourbon County, KY tax lists in 1800.  A
James and a William are on the Garrard County, KY tax list in 1800.  There
are three Johns on the 1800 tax lists (Livingston, Mason and Woodford
Counties).  The one in Woodford would not have been the brother, but it
looks like he may have been Samuel's son.  This may support the idea that
Nathaniel and 5 sons migrated to Kentucky prior to 1800.

from The History of Chester County, p. 719:

"SELLERS, Samuel, of Darby, and Anna Gibbons were married in 1684 and
had several children. Their son Samuel, b. 3,12,1690, m. in 1712 Sarah
Smith, and his son, the third Samuel, b. 5,20,1715, d. 12,31,1785, m.
7,28,1737 Jane Wood, d/o George and Hannah of Darby. She was b.
9,5,1716, and d. 3,5,1790. They removed from Darby to West Bradford, now
Pocopson, soon after ma rriage. Their children were: Hannah, m. Isaac
Peirce; Sarah, m. Abel Wickersham; Samuel, m. Mary Taylor; Mary, m.
James Trimble; Ann, m. John Taylor; Jonathan, m. Deborah Taylor.

"John Sellers was born in Darby, Chester (now Delaware) Co., 7th mo. 19,
1728. His grandfather Samuel [above]   came from Derbyshire, England, in
one of the vessels that came with William penn, took up 100 acres of
land in Darby, and followed his trade of weaving. His marriage is said
to have been the first among Friends in Darby. His father, also named
Samuel, was born and lived on the same premises, followed the same trade
of weaving, and was somewhat noted for his mechanical ingenuity. He
erected the first twisting-mill, it is believed, in Pennsylvania (a
complex machine for twisting worsted). Samuel died in 1773, in his 83rd
year."

I suspect our Nathan is from this family.....now to prove it.

SECOND GENERATION

2.  John SELLERS was born on 16 Sep 1743 in Cumberland Co., PA. This date
comes from Virginia Hanks by way of Julianne Loomis who is a descendant of
John and Elizabeth Finley Sellers.  He died in 1789 in Harrison Co., KY.
The death year must be wrong as his last child was born in 1795.  More
research needed here.

He was married to Elizabeth FINLEY (daughter of John FINLEY  and Alice
MITCHELL ) on 16 Apr 1777.  Elizabeth FINLEY1 was born on 16 Aug 1753.  She
died on 7 Aug 1839 in Preble Co., OH.  John SELLERS and Elizabeth FINLEY
had the following children:

3.  Nathan SELLERS2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 was born about 1753 in Chester
County, PA, USA.  He died on 28 Jul 1824 in Preble County, Ohio, USA.  He
was buried in Mound Cemetery, Preble County, Ohio, USA.  He was of Irish
decent.  Nathan fought in the Revolutionary War as a private in Capt.
William Kirk's Company.  He and Jonathan Pasdrall, John Pearson and Jacob
Serrill were kicked out of the Friends Church  February 29, 1776, because
they enlisted.  That practice was inconsistent with their peacable
principles.

According to documents, he distinguised himself in the battles of
Brandywine and Germantown.  It appears the military organization was
changed as he was in the Upper Darby Company of Militia under Commander
Col. Caleb Davis, Capt. James Williamson and Lt. William Kirk.

They apparently lived in Westmoreland Co., PA for awhile as their first
child, Mary, was born there in May 1776.  Nathan moved with his family to
Bourbon Co., KY prior to 1782.  While there he became a Police Magistrate
and finally, Sheriff.  He was strongly against slavery and finally resigned
the position because of the inhumanity of the laws governing slaves.
Several of his ancestors served Daniel Boone in the war with the Indians
and were victims to the tomahawk and scalping knife.  All of their children
with the exception of Mary (and possibly Nellie whose birthplace is
unknown) were born in Bourbon Co., KY.

The family moved to Ohio around 1810 as Nathan was suretor for  Peggy's
marriage bond in Bourbon County in September 1809 and it is doubtful that
they would have moved during the winter of 1809.  Nathan purchased the SW
1/4 of Section 10 in Washington Township on 9/21/1810 (apparently purchased
in Cincinnati, OH.)  He then purchased the adjoining 1/4 section (SE 1/4 of
Section 9) on 12/30/1811.  Both of these purchases were from the U.S. Govt.
 These transactions were officially recorded on 11 Dec 1821 in Eaton, OH.
This land is about 2 1/2 miles south of Eaton, OH.
 

In an article about Elder James C. Neal, he said his family emigrated to
Preble County in the fall of 1811 with his mother's parents (Nathan and
Sarah Sellers).
Joseph, William and Nathan Sellers were among the early pioneers who
settled in Preble Co.  A William Sellers did own land in the same township
(Section 14.)

The McCoy and Neal families accompanied him on the migration.  The journey
was made by wagon and was long and tedious.  During the first two months
after they arrived, they lived in an open faced pole shanty.  Nathan
finally built an Indian proof block house with bullet proof walls pierced
by port holes at convenient distances apart.  According to an article in
the 13 June 1956 edition of the Eaton Register Herald, the first Christian
Church in Preble Co. was organized in his home in 1807.  The date is wrong
as the land was not purchased until 1810 so it was more likely 1811 when
this event took place.

Nathan passed away on 28 July 1824.  If he was born in 1753 he would have
been about 71.  He left his real property to his only son, Nathaniel F.
For some reason the DAR lists his death as 1826, however his will was
probated in August 1824.  His wife Sarah passed away on 16 September 1834.
 

According to the Sellers Letters, Volume 5, Nathan's father was Nathaniel,
brother of Samuel Sellers, who is more documented.  Nathaniel possibly had
two wives.  His children were Nathan, Joseph, William David, James and
John.  Joseph married Rachel Summer and Jane Ward.  William married Sarah
Crawford.  James married Mary Crawford (Sarah's sister) and John married
Elizabeth Finley (Sarah's sister.)

He was married to Sarah Elizabeth FINLEY (daughter of John FINLEY  and
Alice MITCHELL ) about 1775.  Sarah Elizabeth FINLEY was born about 1760 in
Chester County, PA, USA.  She died on 16 Sep 1834 in Preble County, Ohio,
USA.  It is possible that Sarah had a brother John and a sister, Elizabeth.
  Elizabeth married John Sellers, born about 1750 in Cumberland Co, PA and
died July 1798 in Harrison Co., KY.

Linda Sellers Foster believes that Sarah & Elizabeth's parents were John
and Alice (Mitchell) Finley.  John was born 1691 and died 1769.  They were
married 2/18/1711.  That would make John about 71 when Elizabeth was
born... uncommon, even in those days.

My Aunt Cleta McCoy Miller wrote a few notes about different family
members.  She states that Sarah Finley was a cousin of George Washington.

6 Aug 1855 in Putnam Co., IN.  James SELLERS and Mary (Polly) CRAWFORD had

He was married to Sarah CRAWFORD (daughter of James CRAWFORD  and Rebekah )
on 2 Feb 1795/96.  Sarah CRAWFORD was born on 9 Oct 1778 in PA.  She died
on 28 Feb 1855 in Liberty Mills, IN.  An unidentified note says that Sarah
died Jan 31. 1855; was living with son-in-law, H.W. West in Wabash County,
IN where she moved in 1853.  She was 72.  William David SELLERS and Sarah
CRAWFORD had the following children:

7.  Mary SELLERS13 was born on 3 Feb 1779 in PA.  She died on 15 Jul 1859.

She was married to Unknown UNKNOWN.

She was married to Joseph WASSON on 4 Nov 1824.

10.  Margaret SELLERS was born on 1 Jul 1786 in Bryant Station, KY.  She
died on 23 Nov 1879 in Preble Co., OH.  Margaret Sellers Kline's obituary
(4 Dec. 1879-Eaton Register), states that the ancestors of Mrs. Kline were
originally from Antrim, Ireland.  Her father, John Finley had a brother,
George, who was captured by the Indians when a boy and was adopted by them.

Mrs. Klines's parents were natives of PA; they came to Bryant's Station in
KY where she was born, moved to Cynthiana (Harrison Co. KY) in 1819 and to
Eaton, where she married in 1820.

She was married to Jacob KLINE on 8 Feb 1821.

11.  Sarah (Sallie) SELLERS was born.

She was married to Nathaniel MCCLURE on 27 May 1816.

12.  John Finley SELLERS was born on 22 Feb 1791 in Harrison Co., KY.  He
died on 12 Jan 1875.

He was married to Rebecca SELLERS (daughter of James SELLERS  and Mary
(Polly) CRAWFORD) in 1817.14  Rebecca SELLERS was born on 12 Nov 1797 in
Garrard Co., KY.  Her husband may have been a cousin who sold land to her
father.  She may possibly have married a John Finley.

13.  Ruth SELLERS was born in 1793 in Harrison Co., KY.

She was married to Benjamin Worthington HAWKINS (son of Colonel Samuel
HAWKINS  and Christena WORTHINGTON ) in 1815 in Preble County, Ohio, USA.
Benjamin Worthington HAWKINS15 was born about 1792 in Bourbon County, KY.
He died in 1867 in Putnam Co., IN.  Notes say this may have been John J.
Hawkins brother.  The wife is listed as Ruth Sellers.
According to Cleo Ross Wilcox (cleow@crl.com) Benjamin Worthington Hawkins
was the younger brother of John Jones (Jay) Hawkins.

After Benjamin and Ruth were married, they moved to Putnam County, IN.  On
10/25/1833 they sold to Henry Thompson of Preble County for $1200.

 Ruth SELLERS and Benjamin Worthington HAWKINS had the following children:

14.  James SELLERS14 was born on 31 Jan 1795.

He was married to Mary.

17.  Mary SELLERS was born on 3 May 1776 in Westmorland Co., PA, USA.  She
died on 30 Aug 1854.  Apparently they had two other children who died
shortly after being born.  All of their children were born in either
Bourbon County or Franklin County, KY.

The family lived in Darke County for awhile but returned to a farm in
Preble County about 3 1/2 miles south of Eaton after Mary married Thomas.

She was married to Benjamin NEAL (son of John NEAL and Agnes ) on 15 Sep
1797.  The Internet states the marriage date to Benjamin Neal as 5 Sep 1796
in Bourbon Co., KY  Benjamin NEAL was born about 1777 in Kentucky.  He died
about 1822 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA.  His parental great grandfather
emigrated from England and his maternal ancestors came from Ireland.

18.  Elenor (Nellie) SELLERS was born about 1780 in Pennyslvania, USA.  She
died about 1814 in Preble County, Ohio, USA.  Anne Snodgrass wrote that
Elenor Sellers married Joseph Kennedy on 9 April 1799 in Jessamine Co., KY.
 This must have been a first marriage.   And entirely possible as she would
have been 19 and was 27 when she married Daniel McCoy.

She was married to Daniel MCCOY (son of Daniel MCCOY Sr.  and Martha Mariah
PERRY ) on 13 Apr 1807.  Daniel MCCOY was born about Apr 1775 in Frederick
County, MD.  He died in 1860 in Preble County, Ohio, USA.  Birthdate April
1775 from Family Bible.

Preble Co, Ohio, USA.  Henry Duggins was a farmer.  Henry's will was signed
with an X.  He is buried in Mound Hill Cemetery.

His will was dated 3 April 1852, recorded 15 June 1852.  Jannet (Jane)
SELLERS and Henry DUGGINS had the following children:

a widow in 1825.  She was in Preble Co., OH in 1830 with her children.

She was married to Samuel SNODGRASS on 21 Oct 1805.  Samuel SNODGRASS was
born in 1782.  He died in 1825.  Samuel was in the war of 1812.  Sarah
SELLERS and Samuel SNODGRASS had the following children:

        63      i.      Sarah Ann SNODGRASS was born about 1815 in Kentucky.
        64      ii.     Unknown son SNODGRASS was born before 1820.  According to the 1830
census Sarah had a son born between 1815-1820.

died on 14 Nov 1870 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA.  Harriet died of
typhoid fever.

21.  Margaret (Peggy) SELLERS was born on 2 Jun 1786 in Bourbon County, KY.
 She died on 31 May 1862 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA.  Buried in the

She was married to John BELL on 4 Sep 1809.  They must have been married in
Bourbon County, KY if our assumption that they moved to Preble County in
1810 and Nathan was the suretor for their marriage bond in Bourbon County
in September 1809.  John BELL was born on 10 Oct 1786.  He died on 16 Nov
1856 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA.  John is buried in the Mound Hill
Cemetary  Margaret (Peggy) SELLERS and John BELL had the following children:

22.  Nancy SELLERS was born on 4 Jun 1789 in Bourbon County, KY.  She died
on 12 Nov 1870 in Jay, Indiana, USA.  According to the obituary, she died
of inflammation of the stomach and bowels.  According to records from Cleo
Ross Wilcox, the wedding date was 7/10/1810.

They moved to Jay Co., Indiana on March 8, 1829.

The obituary said they had three children alive at the time of her death.

She was married to John Jones (Jay) HAWKINS (son of Colonel Samuel HAWKINS
and Christena WORTHINGTON ) on 7 Sep 1810 or 15 Jul 1810 in Preble Co., OH.
 John Jones (Jay) HAWKINS was born on 25 Sep 1789 in Bourbon County, KY.
He died on 15 Mar 1832 in Jay, Indiana, USA.  Buried along the banks of the
Salimonie (river).  The first settler to die in Jay County.  John's
ancestors immigrated in the early 1700's and settled on the Shenandoah
River in the Virginia Colony.  Apparently they were wealthy.  John's
father, Samuel, ran away from home and fought in the Revolutionary war.
After the war he married Christena Worthington and they moved to Bourbon
County, KY where John was born.  Samuel also fought in the Indian Wars and
was the first settler in Eaton, OH.

John was the sheriff in Preble county for two terms and lived on a small
farm owned by Nathan Sellers northeast of Eaton.        In 1829, the family,
along with the George Tucker family, moved to Jay County, Indiana and
settled at the forks of the Little Salimonie.  Mrs. Tucker did not like the
wilderness life so the Tucker family soon returned to Ohio.  John died from
pneumonia he caught while hunting.  He was the first settler to die in Jay
County and is buried along the banks of the Salimonie.

In the History of Randolph Co., IN, "He left a poor widow and a large
famly."  (from Cleo Ross Wilcox)  Nancy SELLERS and John Jones (Jay)
HAWKINS had the following children:

23.  Elsa (Alcy Ann) SELLERS was born in 1792/93 in Bourbon County, KY.
Obituaries from Ohio newspapers...possible errors in dates.  She died on 11
Jan 1836 or 26 Mar 1869 in Eaton, Preble Co, Ohio, USA.  She died at her
son, Harvey's home of lung fever per the obituary in the newspaper.

She was married to James COX on 2 Jan 1810.  James Crawford, J.P. married
them.  James COX died about 1859.  Elsa (Alcy Ann) SELLERS and James COX
had the following children:

24.  Nathaniel F(inley) SELLERS was born on 15 Dec 1797 in Bourbon County,
KY.  He died on 12 Mar 1874.  Nathaniel and Mary are both buried at the
Mound Hill Cemetary.  It is possible that Nathaniel was married first to a
Catherine Moffet in November 1817.  Court of Common Pleas has a petition
for alimony on 6/13/1820 for Catherine Moffett from Nathan Sellers, Jr.
She states that Nathan nowowns property in the name of his father, Nathan
Sellers, Sr.

In the Preble Co., Ohio Marriages by Short 1841-1859 a Nathan F. Sellers
married Mary Ann Depny on Oct. 12, 1858.  This could be the same Nathan.
His wife, Mary Barnes died in 1852.

In the 1870 census, Nathan was listed with Elizabeth Sellers (35f).  No
mention of Mary.  She must have died before 1870.

He was married to Mary BARNES on 25 Nov 1822 in Preble Co., OH.  Nathaniel
and Mary weer married by Isaac Stephens, J.P.  Mary BARNES was born on 29
Aug 1799.  She died on 21 Apr 1852 in Preble Co., OH.  Mary is buried at
Mound Hill Cemetary.  In addition to the known children, they had three
children born between 1825-1830 according to the 1830 Ohio census.
Nathaniel F(inley) SELLERS and Mary BARNES had the following children:

        77      i.      Martha SELLERS was born about 1831 in Ohio.
        78      ii.     William SELLERS was born about 1833 in Ohio.
        79      iii.    Elizabeth SELLERS was born about 1835 in Ohio.  Elizabeth is
listed on the 1870 Preble Co., OH  (page 206) and listed as being 35 years
old.
        80      iv.     Isabel SELLERS was born about 1837 in Ohio.

He was married to Catherine MOFFET on 4 Dec 1817 in Wayne County, IN.

She was married to Alexander MCCRACKEN on 16 Apr 1818 in Preble Co., OH.
They were married by John Hardy.

He was married to Fannie BROWN on 1 Mar 1821.  Fannie BROWN died on 8 Mar
1878 in Putnam Co., IN.

28.  Rebecca SELLERS was born on 12 Nov 1797 in Garrard Co., KY.  Her
husband may have been a cousin who sold land to her father.  She may
possibly have married a John Finley.

She was married to John Finley SELLERS (son of John SELLERS  and Elizabeth
FINLEY ) in 1817.14  John Finley SELLERS was born on 22 Feb 1791 in
Harrison Co., KY.  He died on 12 Jan 1875.

29.  Nathan SELLERS was born in 1798/99 in Garrard Co., KY.

He was married to Mary YOWELL.

30.  Sarah SELLERS was born between 1806 and 1808 in Garrard Co., KY.

Cemetery, Preble County, Ohio, USA.  In 1832 he converted to Christianity
while living in Illinois.  He joined the Christian church. In 1835 he
consented to becoming a regular minister.  He was an ordained pastor and
served for 12 years in Paint and 18 years at the Bank Spring church, 7
years at West Florence and 17 years at the Union Chapel.  Had a good
singing voice and hoped to die "in the harness"...I assume that means in
the pulpit preaching.

He was married to Ruth LAMBERT (daughter of Courtland LAMBERT  and Susan )
in 1827 in Preble County, Ohio, USA.  Preble County Marriage Book on the

Nov 1820 in Butler Co., OH.  In the 1870 Knoxville, IA census Isabella &
John listed a 16 year old female, S.A.  We know of her daughter, Lydia
Isabella (from the Foote History & Genealogy Book, vol. II).  Lydia
Isabella isn't listed so it is possible she died before 1870.  In 1867 her
son, Henry Daniel and Martha named their first daughter, Lydia Isabella,
possibly in honor of Lydia's daughter, Lydia Isabella.

S.A. could be Sarah Mariah we have listed as the daughter of John and
Isabella McCoy.  If this is her, she is a Frost, not a McCoy.

  John MCCOY and Isabella STEPHENSON had the following children:

        +129    i.      Henry Daniel MCCOY Capt.
        130     ii.     William L. MCCOY was born about 1841.  Age 9 in 1850 census
        131     iii.    Pheobe Jane MCCOY.  Phoebe and Sarah could have been twins born a
few months after their father, John McCoy died.  I think that Phoebe and
Sarah are actually the children of John Frost.  There is no mention of
these girls in the 1850 Boone County, IN census....only Henry D. and William.

57.  Cornelius V. DUGGINS was born on 17 Mar 1812 in Preble County, Ohio,
USA.  He died on 17 Nov 1849 in Newcastle, Henry Co., IN.  Received from
Genserv Report (Internet) Marcia Crawford Philbrick (mphil@parod.com)  Had
five children, four living in 1881 on farm of 116 acres (where the REGISTER
is now located in Eaton).  From Marcia Crawford Philbrick and History of
Preble Co., OH page 136, 728.

Was a partner in Duggins and Holderman paper (Eaton Register).  Purchased
New Castle Courier from Grubbs in 1846 and operated it until his death.

PS:  An interesting aside....Nathan's daughter, Nancy Sellers' husband,

John Jay Hawkins was the first cousin of Davy Crockett.  Davy's mother was
Rebecca Hawkins, the sister of Samuel Hawkins (John Jay's father.)

In Samuel Sellers will he refers to his brother Nathaniel's wife.  He was
in Cumberland County, PA.  We don't know his wife's name.  We do know he
had five sons: John, Nathan, James, William and Joseph.

This information was gleaned from The Sellers Letters.  Nathaniel and his
five sons moved to Kentucky late in the 18th century  He was listed on the
Lurgan Township, Cumberland County, PA tax list from 1751-1770.

Samuel Sellers is presumed to be his brother.  Samuel's children are
presumed to be:  John who possibly married Mary Woods about 1770 in
Woodford Co., KY  He was born abt 1750 and died abt 1812.  Also Samuel,
Isaac and Margaret.  Samuel's will was dated 2 April 1776 in Lurgan Township.

A Joseph and Nathan are on the Bourbon County, KY tax lists in 1800.  A
James and a William are on the Garrard County, KY tax list in 1800.  There
are three Johns on the 1800 tax lists (Livingston, Mason and Woodford
Counties).  The one in Woodford would not have been the brother, but it
looks like he may have been Samuel's son.  This may support the idea that
Nathaniel and 5 sons migrated to Kentucky prior to 1800.

I'm going to Pennsylvania in May and intend to get as much information
there as I can about the Sellers and Finley's.  My Finley's are very
elusive but I intend to work on them then.
