MARY ANN'S PAGE

Am researching the family of James P. Sellers, born in Kentucky, 1851/52, who
married Susanna A. McGuire, born in Indiana, 1855/56.  In 1880 they were
living in Boone Township, Crawford County, Indiana with their three children,
Mary Catherine, William and Nancy E.  Any one else researching or have a
connection to this Sellers Family?  Would love to hear from you.

Mary Ann Case Ashworth
formerly of Bracken County, Ky.
transplanted to Pasadena, Ca.
Granddaughter of Mary Catherine Sellers (1877-1949)

.To finish this saga:
Mary Catherine Sellers married Lawrence Charles Power in Bracken County, Ky.,
August 8, 1896.  The orphanage or wherever she and her siblings lived has
NEVER
been identified.  What happened to the other siblings has never been
determined.
What happened to her parents has never been determined.  I do need to check
court records in Crawford County for guardianship determinations.  I do not
know if James Phillip Sellers had any land, that is something I shall
determine.

Mary Catherine and Lawrence had children, and only one daughter is alive,
presently.  She is 95 years old, sound of spirit and body, but unfortunately
not of mind.  Another daughter, passed away this past August at the age of 90.
The moral of my story is.....I should have started this search earlier!  But
isn't hindsight always 20/20?

Bye for now,

My great grandmother, Caroline Wood, was born August 16, 1836 in Bracken

anyone out there have any info pertaining to this union?  Thank you very
much.

I have a copy of a marriage book for Bracken which contains a
few annotations, including for this group.  Do not know who did the
annotating.
     Says:
David Wood and Frances Sellers married June 23, 1835 by Rev. Peter
Mains
and David Wood married Martha Jones Mar. 4, 1840 by Danl. Coleman,
Esq.
Annotation makes it clear that these are 1st and 2nd marriages for
David.  States one dau of Frances, Caroline, married James P. Case on
Mar. 1, 1860.  Since book stops w/1851, I cannot confirm.  David's
second wife was Martha (Patsy) Reagan who married:   1)Enoch Jones;
2) David Wood; and 3) Samuel Wood, David's brother.  Info reportedly
given by F. M. Bouton (hard to read) grgranddaughter 1949.  States
also that Martha had children by David only.  Note also that all
annotation says Wood but marriage is listed as Woods.
The Jacob Wood listed was married to Nancy Hamilton Dec. 7, 1835.
Hamilton also appears in some King document, as I recall.  If you
want, I can list the Wood marriages here.
SHERRY

I have some interest, but no knowledge, of the Wood(s).  They
may be in-laws of my Kings.
Hope this helps a little.

James P. Sellers or Philip James Sellers born in 1851 or 1852 in Bracken
County, Kentucky to parents unknown....married Susanna "Annie" McGuire
(born
1855 or 1856), on July 24, 1873 in Leavenworth, Crawford County, Indiana.
Their children:
Mary Catherine Sellers, 1877-1949; William H. or William W. Sellers
(1874/1875- unknown),
and Nancy E. Sellers (1880-unknown). All were in BooneTownship, Crawford
County, Indiana in 1880.

Gosh, I hope somebody can help, as the three children were separated for
reason unknown, went to an orphanage (who knows where?) and never met each
other again. An attempt was made in the 1940's by Mary Catherine(Molly) to
find the others but with no luck.

minister - Daniel Coleman
Marriage Bond 3/4/1840

My research, to this point, shows only one child born to David Wood and
Frances Sellers:  Caroline, born August 16, 1836 in Bracken County,
Kentucky.
Caroline is my grandmother.

David then married, Martha Ragan Jones (she was married previously to
Enoch
Jones) and they had these children:  John, Sarah, Mariah, Jacob,
Cornelias,
Thomas, and Pernelta Jane Wood.

The parents of David/James David Wood are: James Wood and Caty
Mains/Maines.

I have no Civil War info on David Wood at this point; or a will.
I have not found anything about the David Wood listed at age 53, in the
1850
Bracken County, Ky. Census.
Maybe this fills in some blanks.
