> HAVE you read the 1870 NICHOLS CO, KY CENSUS on JOHN and THOMAS ?
> thanks, marie, iowa

Marie,  Thanks a lot!

I'd scribbled a note with Jasper Sellers name when I was visiting
Fleming county last summer.  I had also photographed a stone in
Carlisle  Cemetery with Dunbar and Fenton Sellers names on it.  I will
dig everything out and let you know what I can piece together.

Did you see the note on KYROOTS from Chester Ward, who is copying death
certficates for $1.50?  I sent him a list of all the Sellers who died in
Bracken, Robertson and Fleming counties from 1911 - 1945.  That should
help us connect a couple of generations.

I still need to figure out how to get Thornton Sellers death
certificate.  He died in 1965.

Have you seen the new LSU civil war site?  Yesterday, I found that a
FEEBACK uncle was buried at Chattanooga National Cemetery.  There is
also a David Sellers there.  I will be looking closer this weekend.

Thanks again!  I can't wait to get home this evening and try to connect
this stuff to my loose ends.

I just found a note I'd taken last summer.

William Sellers was the father of Jasper Sellers.
Jasper Sellers was the father of Dunbar Sellers.
Dunbar Sellers married Fenton Barnett.
Dunbar and Fenton are buried in Carlisle (KY) cemetary.

This information came from a non-Sellers cousin who lives in Ewing and
who has been researching for 35 years.  It seems that she knows about a
lot of families.  She is the one that told me to check out the Thornton
Sellers plaque at Blue Lick State Park.  Now it seems that Thornton and
Dunbar were brothers!

I'd thought the Lida Sellers Utkov on the plaque was Thornton and Nona's
daughter, but maybe it was Thornton's sister.

I'm really excited about these new leads, Marie.  Can't wait to hit the
CDROMs this evening.

Later... Monte

I've been in communication with Frances Sellers Ravine.  Here is part of
a note she sent me.

Lucy Frances Abbott Sellers is my Grandmother, wife of Jasper.  Jasper is
son of William S. and Rebecca Jane Boone, Henry is brother to my father
and son of Jasper, William E. (a.k.a. Will Eddie) is half brother to
Jasper (I think).  Jasper, of course, is father to the thirteen,
including my father.

More to come...  Frances plans to join our list soon.

I've been copying northern Kentucky Sellers death certificates.  I will
have about 40 in about a week.  I will send you copies.

Hi, Marie,

A cousin has just sent me what I think is a marriage bond for the John
McDaniel/Polly Sellers marriage.  It is dated March 17, 1800.

The two men who signed it were John McDaniel and Michael Sellers.

Actually, Michael signed his x mark.

Is this a clue that Michael Sellers was Polly's father?

I read somewhere that girls who were named after their mothers were
often nicknamed Polly, so maybe Polly's mother was named Mary.

I just got the 1850 census for Bracken County, and found a George
Sellers who was born in PA about 1775.  I wondered if this could be
Polly Sellers brother.

Just some wild grasps, Marie.  Thought you might be able to shed some
light.

Thanks!                 Monte

MONTE, very interesting!
John Michael Sellers, Rev war, born ca 1760 Germany and his wife
Catherine=
children alive in 1853 =
Philip Sellers
Michael Sellers
Henry Sellers
George Sellers (born 1799 KY)
Catherine Perry
Sarah McDonald
Polly Shane

Polly is a nickname for Mary-

I believe your Mary Sellers McDaniel is the one on the 1850 Nicholas
Co,Ky census = Mary McDaniel  69 Pa
               Prudence 42 Ky
               Artimesa G/P 11 Ky
Can't remember and don't have out the 1860 Nicholas County census - if
she is still alive-
I have been thinking/not proven she may be a daughter of the John
Sellers that came and made improvements to his land in 1776's? and was
here in 1790's - need to reread/post that article - may have been
Bryants Station-?
John and Mary Sellers McDaniel had several girls and could check their
names thro marriages for name patterns=
Don't know if I looked for McDaniel wills=
could check war of 1812 for John McDaniel for info=

Geo Sellers born 1765 Pa - possibly brother/cousin to Michael 1760 - In
1860 he is in Adams/Brown Co, Ohio where Michael 1760 first had land! I
am sure a connection to those families!

We also must start working on PA info and linking it to where he
immigrated to, enlisted in service, land grant, - his Dad would be an
immigrant, and I haven't even checked on that!
WILL try and do a little more on this family-

I haven't read that 1870 Ky census I needed for Frances line-

Were having thunderstorms today,
Thanks Monte,
marie, iowa

> HAVE you read the 1870 NICHOLS CO, KY CENSUS on JOHN and THOMAS ?
> thanks, marie, iowa

Yes, Thomas Vaughn Sellers was my great grandfather. John was his
father.  In 1870 both families lived on Stoney Creek Road in Nicholas
county.  I haven't actually read the censuses, but have the notes my
uncle gave me, listing the names and ages.  John, of course, is the same
man who married Charlotte Vaughn in Bracken county in 1833.  They moved
to Nicholas by the 1840 census.

I pulled out my photos from last summer's trip to the Carlisle Cemetery:
Fenton Barnett Sellers 1901-1995, Dunbar Sellers 1899 - ?
I couldn't read the death date.

I also received some death certificates yesterday from Bracken county:

Charles C. Sellers, 6/26/1874 - 3/1/1934 wife Ada Sellers, still living
father - J. R. Sellers, birthplace, Bracken Co KY
mother - Mary E. Frank, birthplace, Bracken Co KY
informant - Ada Sellers
occupation - gas station operator in Brooksville
The burial looks like "K of P" Brooksville

James Robert Sellers 3/2/1868 - 3/2/1915, widower
father - George Sellers, b. Bracken co KY
mother - S---- Gregston, b. Bracken co KY (looks like Sonny or Sarry)
informant - John Sellers
occupation - driver of G----- Wagon
burial at Augusta KY, Paris Cemetery  (I THINK it's Paris)

Anderson Lloyd Sellers 3/18/1903 - 1/7/1918, single
father - John Sellers b. KY
mother - Effa Smith b, KY
informant - Effa Sellers, his mother
occupation --or making in --or factory
burial - Paris Cemetery, Augusta KY

These last two were brothers

William Johnson Sellers 12/26/1847 - 12/1/1919, single
father - John Sellers, b. KY
mother - Hannah Tibbles, b. KY
informant - H. R. Pickrell
occupation - farmer
burial at Sharon Cemetery, presumably in Augusta KY

Madison A. Sellers 10/??/1836 - 4/13/1926, married, no wife listed
father - John Sellers, b. KY
mother - Hannah Tibbles, b. KY
informant - H. R. Pickrell
occupation - farmer
burial at Sharon Cemetery, presumably in Augusta KY

Marie, please let me know if any of this jibes with your files.  I will
send the death certificate stuff to the list.  I'll be ordering more
death certificates today.

Thanks!   Monte

Saturday afternoon, I talked with Francis Sellers Ravine on the phone.
I'd been carrying her phone number around since my trip to KY last
summer.  I was motivated to call from all the stuff you'd sent me on
Friday.

Francis is the daughter of Willam Green Sellers, who is the son of
Jasper Sellers.  Thornton and Dunbar were Willam Green's brothers.

Francis is responsible for the annual Sellers reunions in Blue Lick
State Park.  She has traced her line back to the Zellers of Germany.

I sent her all my stuff.  I should get something back from her in about
a week.  She needs to see if my g g grandfather fits in somewhere.  She
says the John McDaniel/Polly Sellers marriage rings a bell.

I told her about the Sellers list.  She has internet access but hasn't
used it much.  I think I got her excieted about the internet resources.

I will keep you posted.

I am looking for information on SELLERS, VAUGHN, WILSON and McDANIEL
families who lived in Bracken, Lewis, Mason and Nicholas Counties, KY in
the early 19th century.

John SELLERS, b. 1811 married Charlotte VAUGHN, b. 1817 on December 22,
1833 in Bracken County.  Their children were:
Robinson E. S. SELLERS b. 1836 disappeared after 1850 census, rumored to
have gone west for gold rush
Nancy E. SELLERS b. 1837
Amanda M. SELLERS b.1844 married William H. H. WILSON in 1864, had one
daughter, Henrietta WILSON, b. 1866. Amanda may have died giving
Henrietta birth; Henrietta shows up in John and Charlotte SELLERS census
in 1870 and 1880.
Rebecca SELLERS b. 1848 married James Daugherty abt 1870.
Thomas Vaughn SELLERS (1851-1933).

John and Charlotte SELLERS appear in Nicholas County for the first time
in 1840 census.

Charlotte VAUGHN Sellers parents were Thomas VAUGHN, b.1799 and
Elizabeth McDANIEL, b.1800.  Elizabeth McDANIEL Vaughn's parents were
John McDANIEL and Mary SELLERS.

The information I seek:

Who were John SELLERS parents?
Who were Thomas VAUGHNs parents?
Who were John McDANIELs parents?
Who were Mary SELLERS parents?
Were Mary SELLERS and John SELLERS related?
What became of Robinson E. S. SELLERS?
What became of Henrietta WILSON?
What became of Nancy E. and Rebecca SELLERS?

Any help, clues or leads will be much appreciated.
