I looked physically at all the townships in Phelps County, Missouri, in

1860 and the above is all that I found.  If William H. Sellers was born

in Phelps County, I would venture to say that his parents had not

arrived by 1860 or were in a neighboring county.

Subject:  William Chambers b @1807-1818, married 1836 Putnam, IN to Phelps, Mo

http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BUI.2ACIB/1951

I have an ancestor, William Chambers, whom I am trying to find more about HIS ancestry.  This is some of what I know:

He was born 1807-1818 in probably KY, NC or Tenn (he answered differently on the 3 censuses he particpated in).  He married Matilda Justice in 1836 in Putnam, Indiana.  He appears in the 1840 census of Putnam, Indiana.  By 1850, he is in Crawford, Missouri, 1860 - Maries, Missouri, and 1870- Phelps, Missouri (all of the above areas are in the same general location).  He died in August, 1871.  He remarried about 1858 to Elvira Clara Ridenhour.  Some of his children include:  George W. Chambers, Eliza Ann (married Sellers), Mary Ellen (married Tune), Melvina, Jane, John Henry (married Rachel Watson), James (m. Minerva Hood), Caroline, Emeline, Margaret, Matilda, Hester, Susan (married Joseph Sharp), William T.  I have a lot of information regarding the children including marriages & such.  However, I haven't been able to determine any parentage.

William does appear on the 1840 census next to William Chambers, Sr. (probably his father), and James Chambers.  Close to them in that census is Elijah Sutherlin who married Margaret Chambers in 1835 in Putnam, Indiana also.  I find Elijah Sutherlin & family in 1850 Fannin, Texas census.  Close by in the 1850 Fannin, Texas census is James Chambers, 2nd wife Mary (Smith is name from 1st marriage), Andy Chambers, more Chambers kids, & some Smith kids.  I believe that this Andrew Chambers is the one that appears next to William Chambers in the 1870 census of Phelps, Missouri (Andrew married Susan E. Joice - I can't find him in 1860 census).

I have other clues & leads but still nothing definite.  If anyone has any info. I would appreciate it
