Violet Lee Sellers Jones, 89, departed this life on January 6, 2009 to be
with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven.
Born on October 3, 1919 in Rockingham, N. C. (Richmond County, NC), to John
Franklin and Sally Hunt Sellers, Violet lost her mother when she was only 7.
Her father remarried Lela McIver Sellers and together they raised their nine
children. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Coy, Carson, Harold,
Ray, and Mitch; and her sisters, Ruby Evans and Aleen Hyatt (Horace
surviving). She is survived by her sister, Fay Hodorowski (Stan) of
Marietta, Ga.
She married Young Henry Jones on July 2, 1937 and they sepent 51 wonderful
years together raising their four children, Norma Jean Lettig and Jimmy
Leroy Jones, both deceased, and Joyce Jones Lewis (Mike) and Kenneth Carl
Jones, both of Greenville, S.C. She had 11 grandchildren and 21
great-grandchildren, one of whom predeceased her. Nothing in life made her
happier than being surrounded by her family.
Violet was a faithful charter member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She and her husband also attended Mile Creek Baptist Church during the years
they made their home in Six Mile, S. C.
A celebration of her life will be at 12 p.m. Friday in the Thomas McAfee
Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, where her family will also receive friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Contributions in her memory may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 6000
Pelham Road, Suite B, Greenville, SC. The family will be at 202 Old Mill
