To those searchers for Sollers/Sollars:
There is an OH family with early Maryland roots.  It was the family of
Samuel and Elizabeth (Train) Sollers.  Samuel, b. 1-12-1784 in Allegheny Co.,
PA, and Elizabeth, nee Train, arrived in Fayette Co., OH summer of 1808 from
Allegheny Co., PA with their 2 and a half year old son John.

Samuel Sollers was the son of Isaac Sollers, an immigrant who arrived in
Maryland in 1773.  Samuel's relation to Isaac is mentioned in Dills' 1881
History of Fayette Co., Ohio, pg. 867,  where it is pointed out that Samuel
is the son of Isaac "who had come to Pennsylvania from Maryland prior to
1776."

In Virginia Genealogist, July-Sept. 1963, in an article entitled
"Virginia
Land Grants in Pennsylvania," Isaac Sellers obtained a land grant in 1769
for land on Sawmill River in Yohogania County, Pennsylvania.  Yohogania
County was the western portion of Pennsylvania.

In Warner's History of Allegheny County, it is stated that Isaac Sollers
was "probably" the first settler of what is now Union Township, Allegheny
County, Pennsylvania.  He arrived from Virginia in 1773.
Best wishes,
Frank Sellers

FROM ROBERT
            "Robert C. Sollars" <sollars@concentric.net>
John Sollars who resided at New Hope, Wayne Twp., Fayette Co., Ohio where he farmed on Paint Creek, was the  John who owned 720 acres of woodland in "Illinois," believed located in the County of "Vermilion."
If you have more details of of this John in Illinois and his property, I do hope you will share it with me.  The John Sellers in Vermillion Co., Indiana - if memory serves, was on the 1830 Census and then died or moved from the area.  I believe he was living in Newport.
----------------------------------
The John Sollars below is actually a descendant of John Sollers (c.1635-1700) of Maryland through Isaac Sollars who was killed by Indians in KY in 1789. Isaac's son Samuel took the spelling SollArs where his son Isaac kept the spelling SollErs.
The following is part of a Portrait and Biographical Records of Fayette,  Pickaway, and Madison Counties Ohio, 1892, Chapman Bros. I need to get a copy of page 270. PORTRAIT AND BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD.

Found on pages 268 and 269:

John Sollars. This venerable and honored gentleman (age 86) is one of the oldest citizens living within the borders of Fayette County, the most of whose  growth he has witnessed, as he is a son of one of the early pioneer  families, and for sixty years he has been a landholder here, owning and  occupying a farm of one hundred acres in Wayne Township, that he reclaimed from the forest wilds.

Our subject was born in St Clair, Allegheny County, Pa., in 1806. His  parents were Samuel and Elizabeth Sollars.

The Sollars Cemetery is off Rt. 41 South of Washington C.H. Ohio. About 2 miles
south of Miami Trace Rd. on county road 962. Back about 1/2 mile before creek.
Cemetery sets on the hill. As for the Browns Chapel Cem its off 207 south of
Clarksburg on twp road 131B, you must take twp 131A to get to it. I am sending maps
too. Hope this helps.
