We are unclear on the birthplace of David McAuley. In the 1870
OH census,
it is reported that he was born on PEI, Canada. However, it has
been family
tradition that this family was from Scotland.
If you have any information about this family I would certainly be delighted
to hear from you. I am very interested, as well, in re-establishing
contact
among the descendants of John Alexander McAuley.
Thank you,

I am seeking the parentage of an Elizabeth whose surname appears
on the
death records of her children as van Hosen, van Hoesen, and van
Huson.
She was born abt 1789 (per age at death), according to one child's
record in Poughkeepsie NY. She md a William Sellers of Kingston,
Ontario, lived in Oswego,
NY and Toledo, Ohio. Died in Toledo in 1876.
A family tradition connects her family, during the Revolutionary
period,
to Whitehall, NY.
I suspect she may be of some relation to her daughter-in-law,
Ellen
van Housen b 1834 in Montreal, d 1890 Toledo, md George Sellers.
Family
tradition says that Ellen was one of three children who were placed
in
the care of nuns in a Montreal orphanage by their father after the
death
of their mother. Her brother became a priest, her sister a nun,
though
Ellen remained Protestant. Ellen is said to have served as
a governess
in NY State prior to her marriage to George.
Any information about this family appreciated. Thank
you, John Leidy
