Hi again Marie, I just read your e-mail, about this George
Sellers, who
married a Mary Morris, and was in the 1850 Census. Is this the one no.
#60-61
Sellers listed in the 1850 Census? If so, I believe that this George,
is
the
son of Jacob Sellers, for this George age would match up with Jacob Sellers
son. If this is not # 60-61, then I have no listing on this family. We know
that Asa's #1 kid brother, Atkinson, married Elizabeth Morris I believe in
the year of 1842 in Green County, brother George could had also married a
Morris girl. Again if this is no # 60-61, this can't be my George of George
and Mary Sellers, for in the 1840 census, It has him listed as the head of
the family of his Dead fathers (George 1837 ) house hold, as is stated in
George Sellers Will, that son George was to receive the home and land that
the home sat on, and that his Mother "Mary" and his Daughter Mary
and
children were to live in this home, until mother Mary's death, and daughter
Mary was to live free of charge, as long as she remain a widow. and this is
what we have in the 1840 census of This George living next to Asa and
his
family. It has son George, and I believe one of his brothers, also age
between age 20-30 and daughter Mary Iams age between 20-30 and Mary's
daughter Sarah Rose Iams born 1835, as listed between age 5-10, and mother
Mary widow of George age between 60-70. I believe that Mary' Iams son
Richard Iams born 1834, was living in his uncle Asa's house hold. I have a
long
list of the Morris family's,
I well check it out, and try to find just who this Mary Morris is, and just
who's child she is. Hoping that this might help. fdh.

I am searching for any records of members of the NUTTER family who would
have made their way to Frederick County in the 1770-1800 time
period. They
would have been migrating from Sussex County, DE on the Delmarva
peninsula via
the road from Alexandria, to Augusta County, then north toward
the Braddock
Road to Uniontown, PA, thence to Clarksburg, WVA, where they helped
establish
Nutters Fort. Given names would be
Thomas (several; my four times
greatgrandfather was born in 1760; the Thomas Nutter who was
the leader in
establishing Nutters Fort was 20 years older and a cousin. Other
names: Matthew,

SELLERS CEMETERY
FDHaun@aol.com wrote:
Hi Jim and Marie, I have another question to ask.
(Yes, I know, what's knew.)
What do we know about the Sellers that lived in Springhhill Twp? Greene
County? Were they part of the Sellers clan of Aleppo Twp? and if so were
they
part of our Sellers clan? Do you know of anyone that has worked this line?
The reason for me asking, is, when I was in Green County, June of 96. I was
told of an old cemetery in Springhill Called the Sellers Cemetery. I drove
to
said cemetery, and got permission from the person that was the caretaker of
the old Sellers home and land, to visit this cemetery. It was sad to see the
deplorable shape it was in. many of the stones were face down and embedded
in
the ground. I was able to left a few, to read what was written on them, but
others, it might take a couple of people to get them up, without damaging
them. I look at the 1800-1820 census for any Sellers living in said twp. but
found none. In the 1830 I found a John Sellars listed for Aleppo Twp. I
thought that I had a 1840 state Pa census, but if I do I can't find it. Some
of the names that I found on the stones, I found in Will book # 10 at
Waynesburg. Hear is the most oldest stone that I was able to turn over, John
Sellers, born Dec, 20, 1820 died March 1896 S/O J. S. & R.S. this
John, I
never found in the Will book. ( I wonder who he was the son of?) there was
older stones laying face down embedded in the ground, I wonder whose names
are on them. Hear are a few names That I found in the Will book, that matches
up with the stones,
Thomas Spencer Sellers born June 28, 1880. died Dec,
1942.--
Rachee Dress Sellers born Aug, 30, 1877. Died Sept,
26, 1944--Bash D.
Sellers, daughter of J. J. & H. (? Pettit ) died 1885.--
Elizabeth M.
daughter of William &? Carratine. SP. died ? 1804 age ?-10-2. ( I looked
in
my 10 Mile book, and did not find this name.)-
-Elizabeth wife of Jos.Sellers. Died Nov, 18, 1877.-
-Eliz. wife of Jacob Hafe died April 1859.---and
Susannah wife of Sam Riggs. died April 1889, and Samuel Riggs died 1892.
corp. CO N.6th W.Virg. Vol. Inf. G. A. R. (these last two names, I
also did
not find listed in my 10 mile book). The day that I was there, it was
raining, I was trying to hold my umbrella, trying to keep my notes dry, and
trying to turn more stones over. I just wish that I had return the next day
to the cemetery for who knows what names and dates are listed on those
stones. I still have the directions to this cemetery Jim, if you would like
it. For I don't know when I will get back to Green County. Hoping for some
feed back. fdh. Dennis H.

On the matter of when Aleppo became a Twp. It had to be between
1820-1830,
I tried to find the information from the pagreene web, also from book 10
Miles, and all other information that I have about Green County. but of no
luck.
Hear is some information that I did find. Cumberland, Finley, Franklin,
Green, Morgan, Morris, Nottingham and Richhill all became part of Green
County in 1796, Nottingham and Finley, I no longer see listed, they must
had been changed to another name. Center Twp was formed 1819 and Gilmore was
formed from Jackson about 1860. Springhill is written about as far back as
1772, but I do not know, if that Springhill, is one of the same that sits
in the far S.W. corner of Green County.-- I just wanted to pass that
information on to Jim, or someone that lives near to Green County Pa, that
they might
go to that Sellers Cemetery, and recover what information is on those grave
stones, before all of it is lost forever. Of the list of books on cemetery
records of Green County, I have not seen this one listed.-- Marie, I do not
believe that the 1870 census of Green County has ever been listed, or has
it? if so, how might I get a copy of said census?-

Samuel Bates wrote in his History of Green County year 1888 pg.735.
( at least I believe that it was Bates book that this came from).
William Cotterrel married for his second wife Mrs. Sarah Bane (formerly
Sellers). (
he was left as a widower with a child Elizabeth, who married a David
Taylor).
And that he (William) followed the tanning business for years in
Waynesburg.-.............that he died in Waynesburg January 1886 age
seventy-four years, and his widow still survives him.
