Cohron & Sellers of Troup Co, GA & Chambers Co, AL

Need help determining ancestry and fate of William Leonidas Cohron, listed
in the 1840 census of Troup Co, GA. There’s a John Cohron listed in the
same
census. I  imagine the two are related but I don’t quite know how. The
surname is spelled various ways through the years, including Cochran,
 Cohorn, Choran, and Cohran.
Leonidas was apparently married to a woman named Eliza Jane. One of the
things I would like to learn is her surname. I’ve been unable to find a
marriage record. They had several children: Nicholas (Green?) – abt.
 1839,died 1865; John H. Cohron – 1841; Amanda Cohron – 1842,died 1902;
 Leonidas B. – 1843, died 1930; and Nancy Jane – 1844, died 1926.
A newly found cousin has done some excellent work and concluded the
Leonidas
was descendant of a large family of Cohrons. His father may have been a
John
Cohron, his grandfather Job, and his great-gfather, Cornelius. We just
been
unable to find the definitive connection.

In any event, Leonidas apparently died before 1850.
Eliza and the children
appear alone in the 1850 census of Chambers Co, AL.
By 1860, she had remarried to Thomas Sellers, with whom she appears in the 1860 Henry Co
census. She may have died or been remarried by 1870.
A Thomas Sellers married a Frances Jones in 1867 and they appear together in the 1870 Henry
 Co census.
An Eliza Sellers married a Ashely Simms in Henry Co in 1865.
Any help in pinning down Leonidas’ heritage, Eliza’s maiden name, and
their
rather confused family lines would be much appreciated.

First, couldn't Joel have dropped some children off in Henry Co, AL on his
way to Mississippi? Okay, so the Star Trek theory seemed like a better
notion.
Just a little more on the family of Zach Pridgeon of Henry/Houston Co.
Found
some cemetery records and mentions of other grandchildren. Zach, according
to his tombstone, was a "Dr." but it doesn't say what kind.
Interesting to note that in the 1910 census of Houston Co, Zach reported
his
parents as having been from North Carolina. It was always Georgia in
previous records.
As noted below, the spelling of his wife's name varies between Belinda and
Melinda, or Malinda. Always appears as Melinda in census reports but is
Belinda in marriage record and on her tombstone. I'm going with Belinda -
though if one of my more direct ancestors was involved in choosing the
name,
it could well have been Belinda Melinda Sellers. Afterall, I had an uncle
who was named Ozzie Harriet until he was old enough to walk to the
courthouse and get it changed.
Another interesting entry in 1900 census of Henry Co
Evans Piggin born 1875 in GA with a wife Maggie, and children Mollie, Bob,
and Sulie (?). Ring a bell with anyone or should this have been Pigeon or
Pidgeon?

Looking for information on the following family. Thomas' wife, his second,
was Eliza Jane (maiden name unknown) Cohron, the mother of the latter three
children here. Her first husband was William Leonidas Cohron, my
ggg-grandfather.
Trying to determine if Thomas was the Thomas Sellers listed in the 1850
census of Russell Co, AL. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the
details of that census yet.
Any information would be appreciated.

Ron,
I don't think that Rufus Daniel Sellers had a child named Missouri.  Census
of 1850 list his first child Callistha W. or Sarah in the 1870 census.  She
was b in 1848.

Margie

I've placed a couple of scans at a website in hopes someone
can enlighten me on a couple of matters.
In the 1880 census, there is listed a JRE Sellers and on the
facing page, a couple of other Sellers families whose heads I cannot
decipher.
The question here is whether the JRE Sellers of 1880 is the
same as that listed as the son of Thomas Sellers in Henry Co in 1860.
Definitely the right age and it is the only instances in which I've seen
that set of initials.
My question on the other Sellers families concerns the
identity of the heads of the families.
The 62 year old Elizabeth is the right age
to be my  ancestress Eliza Jane (maiden name unknown) Cohron Sellers,
the widow of William Leonidas Cohron who remarried Thomas Sellers in Pike
Co in 1853.
However, the name of her husband appears to be something
else entirely here
and this may just be the coincidence of another Elizabeth.
However, it is definitely her listed with her son in the
1900 census - the second scan below. She died in 1903. My question is whether
anyone knows of a burial record for her. I've searched the Butler Co site
and elsewhere but have had no luck.
Thanks for any help that may be offered. The first links are
for the scans mentioned, the last for the larger site.
