John Sellers is a fifth generation native to Hopkins County, Texas. He
graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in advertising/public
relations and received his teaching certificate in history from Texas A&M at
Commerce. He is a graduate of the Samford University, Advanced Methodology
Course.

He compiled an addendum to the l850 Hopkins County Census and is the author
of a historical newspaper article
, Hopkins County Remembered. John is a
frequent speaker at society meetings across the state. He has a well-earned
reputation as an outstanding speaker.

   The John A. Sellers that gave program to Carthage, Panola Co., TX is a pro
from Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co., TX who looked at my names that meant
nothing to him.  Bowie, Red River, Hopkins, Lamarr counties are across the
top of TX neighboring each other.  He named his 2 yr. old son, Elisha, called Eli.

John Sellers spoke at our March 23rd Spring Seminar here in Amarillo, TX. He
is an excellent speaker and teacher. I highly recommend him as a Seminar
speaker.
I spoke to him regarding your website, he was familiar with it and promised
to submit his information to you. I can tell you that he is decended from
Thomas F. Sellers, b 1815 in Brunswick Co. NC.

He died Friday after a heart attack. He was a brother of Grover Sellers, former Attorney General of Texas, Sulphur Springs attorney, and prominent cattleman. Elisha Sellers was a native of Louisiana. He moved to Sulphur Springs eighteen years ago, and for fifteen years had been connected with the State Highway Department. Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. G. T. Tindall, Clifton; a son, Charles Sellers, Sulphur Springs; three brothers, Grover Sellers, Dr. Hodge Sellers and Dick Sellers, all of Sulphur Springs. (Dallas Morning News, March 18, 1950)
